Things
to do... places to see
Marciac is a delightful small town, established in the 13th century
with a central square which is given over to the local market
each Wednesday. There are similar "bastide" (fortified)
towns nearby - pleasurable destinations for visiting and stopping
for a relaxed lunch... |

Exploring
the bastides ...
We have a guided walk for Marciac which allows you to discover
some of the hidden treasures and a little of the local history.
The
practicalities
Just 15 minutes walk from the campsite, Marciac has an active
commercial centre with all the essentials such as banks, post
office, grocery store, etc and also offers restaurants and bars
to indulge your holiday pleasures.

A
holiday at your own pace... sit and relax or get out and about
Marciac has an impressively laid back feel, exuding tranquillity
and peace, so if you just want to sit and relax, you will feel
at home here. If you want to explore a little from this bucolic
base, a range of rewarding day visits are possible. The Pyrenees
mountains are just 40 miles to the south - breathtaking scenery
and fantastic walks in the pure air. Just over the mountains is
Spain - space, light and a whole different culture. Alternatively,
head west for a two hour drive through the pine forests to arrive
at the Atlantic coast.

Fine

Marciac is in Gascony - the home of Armagnac and excellent wines,
as well as the aperitif Floc. Famous also for its foie gras, the
regions restaurants will delight your palette with traditional
duck recipes. We will happily provide a few good tips for where
to sample the delights of Gascony
